Stakeholders dialogue
2004 has been an intensive year in terms of stakeholder dialogue for Halyps Cement with the organization of 5 major communication events who have gathered altogether 2200 attendants involving the largest range of HALYPS stakeholders : employees and their families, national, regional and local administrations, customers, suppliers and services providers, technical scientific and academic bodies, labor unions representatives, Halyps Cement neighbors and the media (local and national). Additionally in 2007 Halyps Cement has performed its 2nd Open Door event gathering about 1.500 visitors.
Welfare and employment
Halyps Cement has performed in 2004 an investigation project with the Economic University of Athens in order to monitor and analyze more deeply its personnel expectations and to prepare an “ad hoc” development plan based on that investigation.
In addition Halyps has consolidated its Human Resources welfare policy based in the main following guidelines :
- induction program for new collaborators
- intensive investment in training and education
- equal employment and development opportunities
- social benefits benchmarking study performed with Athens Laboratory of Business Administration
Health and safety
Halyps Cement plant reached till the end of October 2008 1732 Days without accident.
Italcementi Group Safety policy has been implemented and spread in all the Greek
activities, including concrete and aggregates ones. Additionally since 2001 up to October 2008 Halyps Headquarters have reached the record of 2860 days without accident.
Interaction with local communities
In addition to its tax contributions to the local communities where are located its activities (cement and aggregates), Halyps Building Materials S.A. have committed 350 K€ in social contributions through sponsoring initiatives
and donations to those local communities. Those initiatives are systematically priorizing the welfare as well as social and cultural development of the local communities. As an example among these initiatives, Halyps Quarries have sponsorized in 2004 the preparation and participation of an athlete to the 2004 Para Olympic Games and Halyps Cement has sponsored 2 handicapped athletes for the 2008 Paraolympic Game in China.
