Recognizing the need for a strong contribution of Halyps Building Materials S.A. to energy saving and conservation of energy sources and most particularly fossil fuels, we believe that systematic action is required towards this goal.
Our commitment concerns operational and strategic options, priorities of employees as well as our investment plan. It is a commitment fully aligned with the strategy of Italcementi Group but also with the Quality, Environment and Health & Safety Policies of the company.
Therefore we are committed:
To study means of decreasing energy consumption and increase of use of alternative renewable energy sources.
To continually improve the overall energy efficiency of the plant at the Aspropyrgos site:
- by effective energy monitoring the day-to-day operation in the whole range of our industrial activities, while
- implementing energy efficiency improvement projects
To communicate to our personnel all the existing and on-going measures to prevent excess energy consumption, the energy performance of various sectors and of the entire site.
To encourage our employees to put in practice any new opportunities we adopt for the decrease of energy consumption both at work and in our private activities.
To have available all relevant data and to provide all necessary material and human resources in order to achieve this policy.
To consider energy consumption as:
- a determining criterion when deciding to purchase an equipment, and
- a decisive factor in the process and facility design as well as in any new product design.
To take advantage of the Italcementi Group knowhow and the available modern technology aiming at energy saving.
Recognizing that our major energy consumption areas are the burning of pet-coke in the clinker furnace and the electric power used by various equipment we shall place particular effort in achieving improvement particularly in these areas.
A prerequisite for any such action is the conformance with the Greek and European Legislation relative to energy use, as well as with all other regulations and local or sectorial agreements to which the company or the Group is committed .
In order to effectively achieve all above we have adopted the European Energy Management System Standard EN 16001:2009.
