HALYPS CEMENT decided for this Christmas holidays, instead of sending greetings cards and corporate gifts to its customers, to offer the same amount as economic assistance to the work carried out for years now by the association "KIVOTOS TOU KOSMOU (World Ark)".
Kivotos takes care of children who daily experience abandonment, racism and social exclusion in one of the most disadvantaged areas of Athens, Plato's Academy. The association was established in 1998 by the then twenty-six-year old father Antonios Papanikolaou with the aim to turn it into a source of care, support and hope for the future of these children, the other face of Athens.
Kivotos brings together approximately 200 children, babies to eighteen-year old ones, in a multi-religious and multi-cultural community flourishing and thriving with the love of Christ. The 150 Greek origin children alongside children from Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ghana, Afghanistan and Iraq jointly experience in harmony the affection and peace of Kivotos that relieves them from poverty, hunger, diseases, wretchedness, exploitation and illiteracy.
